Be Happy and Work Hard
Jan 9, 2011 5:39 PM
I'd like to start this blog off by saying that there are many players out there on teams where they aren't playing where they would like to be playing or not getting the time on the court that they deserve. But if you are a player in that position, you have to recognize that you are still an important part of your team and that you can contribute in many ways both on and off the court. Below is a quote by former Chicago Bulls great Scottie Pippin.

Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team.
Scott Pippin

This quote is perfect for players at every level, even pro. A coaches job is to develope players, bring out each players best, and win championships and the reason why they have picked certain players is because they beleive each player will fit a specific role and help the team.

Be proud to be on a team and always be positive no matter wether you are the star player or a player who is in and out of the line up. The reality is, is that a team needs every player in order to be successful and at the end of the day, if a championship is won, every player will get the satisfaction of being part of a winning team.

Also, as you get older, stronger, and more confident as a player, your coach may give you more of a leadership role on your team and have more trust in you, When that opportunity comes, make sure you are ready to excel.

Enjoy watching these highlights from Scottie Pippen.

Best of luck this week,

Does practice really make perfect?
Dec 9, 2010 4:33 PM
Hey guys,
Do you know how you always hear about people and coaches preaching "practice makes perfect"? Well that's not necessarily the case. A better saying may be "perfect practice makes perfect".

So next time you are practicing with your team or just having fun playing with your friends at the local gym, make sure you always concentrate on playing and shooting using proper techniques so that when you are called on under pressure, it becomes second nature and you can do it without even thinking.

Don't take our word for it though, look at what another great basketball player had to say about it below. Also, take a look at some highlights of how perfect practice pays off in the NBA.

“You can practice shooting eight hours a day, but if your technique is wrong, then all you become is very good at shooting the wrong way. Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise.”
--Michael Jordan

Hey Guys and Girls,
This was the latest post taken from our Facebook FanPage on November 4, 2010. If any of you have any upcoming tournaments, showcases, or news, you can post them on our FanPage wall on Facebook and we will post them here (in our site blog) so that the coaches and scouts in our system can follow them (and follow you!).

Gerald Vaughn

Gerald VaughnReceived Gerald's (Gerald Vaughn Jr.) review for the NC Adidas phenom 150 last week. He was on Team 9 and he played the PG. His coach name was Kennan A. Orr and they won all five games. they played really good team defense and offense even though they have never played together before. This allowed them to beat team...s by 20 or more. Here's what the coach had to say about his performance, "Very good player, strong ball handler, very quick, with outstanding defense. Needs to work on finishing at the rim. Bad habit of reaching when tired, always move your feet. Potential Unlimited." This is what Rick Lewis from Phenom hoop Report comments were, "Use your size to create havoc on the defensive end of the floor. At your size, become a pass first PG and be vocal in directing. Recommended level of college basketball D2 with D1 potential."

      Gerald,
Thanks for Gerlad Jr.'s update, from the sounds of it Gerald showed well - that's great to hear!!
It's important that EVERY coach/scout knows how well Gerald played, not just the ones that were in attendance at the showcase. We sugges...t that Gerald make use of the Game Log and Game Recaps in his Forse profile to list how well he played, his stats, and even attach video highlights from each game (tournament games can be listed in a player's Game Log section, not just regular season games).
BY FAR the most common request we get from coaches and scouts is for video, as they want to see as much video on a player as possible since they can't see a player every game. The Game Recap along with attaching video (in the Forse player profile) is the ideal way for everyone to see a player as often as possible (even every game).
At Forse we recommend one thing above all else to players :
If you have a great game or make a great play, you need everyone to know about it, and see it. Otherwise you run the risk of being another name on a sheet of paper along with a line of stats. And everyone knows in order to stand out and be noticed, you need to be more than that.
It looks like Gerald has great potential, and as he continues in his season we look forward to hearing about it (and seeing it)!
Keep the coaches and scouts using the Forse system updated on Gerlad's progress as well!
      To your success!

Gerald - thanks for the post & update!
In the coming weeks, and throughout the season, Forse will be in close contact with scouting organizations, recruiters, and schools from around the country to bring players to their attention.
Gerald, yo...ur son can start using his Forse profile to input stats, write Game Recaps, and even upload video highlights from any of his tournament games right now.
In the Game Log section of your profile simply select "Tournament" from the Game Type drop down. This way, not only will the schools and scouts in attendance at these showcases see how your son played, but any school/scout/recruiter that views your son's Forse profile can follow your son game by game all season long. As you know, the recruiting process starts now, and whatever big plays or highlights your son has should never go overlooked. You can use your Forse profile so they never do!
Thanks again for the post Gerald, and we look forward to hearing more about Gerlad Jr!

      Mikyle,
Thanks for the heads up about the Showcase. Forse will be looking to get out and help players, like you, stand out and get seen at some of these showcases and tournaments.
One thing you should always be doing is updating your Forse profile. After your games input your Game Logs and Game Recaps (and attach video highlights from your game) so that even coaches, scouts, or colleges that aren't at your games can follow you game by game, all season long, and have a look at you.
What's also great is that anyone can go back and follow every one of your games this season by looking at your Game Logs, watching your video highlights, and reading about how you played in your Game Recaps.
We wish you the best of luck in the Showcase Mikyle! Hopefully you turn some heads!
If Forse can't make it there then we, and everyone on Forse, look forward to hearing about your games in your Game Recaps!
